Vito
Flemish Institute for Technological Research
VITO is a Belgian RTO (Research and Technology Organisation) providing innovative technological solutions as well as scientifically based advice and support in order to stimulate sustainable development. The remote sensing unit, therefore, develops innovative remote sensing systems as a solution to the growing need for information about the environment. Its activities cover the range from instrument definition, processing and archiving, value-adding and dissemination of data for support of decision making. VITO is a key player in technical solutions for the global monitoring of food production, including individual plant level monitoring, and in developing operational services for farmers (e.g. by using cameras on robots, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, airplanes and satellites).
Role in the project
VITO’s main role in the project is the work package lead on Mapping and Integration (WP1). Moreover, VITO leads the task on Technology mapping. VITO is also involved in WPs 2 and 4 as contributor.
