The PATH2DEA project proudly announces the successful launch of the Digital Agroecology Cluster. The cluster, which includes a diverse array of projects focused on agroecology and digitalization in agriculture, marks a significant step towards fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among research projects.
Cluster's vision and goals
The Digital Agroecology Cluster aims to unite projects related to agroecology and digitalization in agriculture, alongside European Partnerships and research infrastructures dedicated to this theme. By seeking synergies and identifying common objectives among cluster members, the initiative strives to promote knowledge-sharing and provide support to overcome potential barriers encountered by projects. Additionally, the cluster focuses on interaction with projects addressing new and less well-studied aspects of digital agroecology, offering necessary support and coordination. Furthermore, it serves as a forum for support, linking relevant testing facilities and digital technologies to enhance the research objectives of individual projects.
The projects that are currently part of the cluster are:
- Farmtopia
- Reforest
- A Bigger Conversation
- GOOD – Agroecology for Weeds
- Inclusive Digital Tools
- D4AgEcol
- AGROSUS
Inaugural meeting highlights
During the cluster's inaugural meeting, members had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, laying the groundwork for collaborative efforts. The cluster members had the opportunity to learn about the key methodologies, missions and objectives of each project, drawing parallels and reflecting on the points in common. This exercise resulted in the creation of a word cloud which depicts the guiding concepts and issues that are at the forefront for all the participants.
Furthermore, following an open floor discussion, the participants were able to identify a list of activities designed to boost collaboration and deliver substantial benefits across all participating projects. The upcoming work on the identified activities will kick-start the collaboration among the cluster members. Additional meetings are envisioned to document important results produced by the projects, with a final in-person meeting foreseen in September 2025.
A Collaborative Future for Agroecology and Digitalization
The PATH2DEA project, through the Digital Agroecology Cluster, is dedicated to creating a vibrant ecosystem where projects can thrive through mutual support and shared goals. By bringing together experts and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, the cluster aims to accelerate the adoption of innovative digital solutions in agroecology, ultimately contributing to more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems in Europe.
